DEMONSTRATION OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES SHOWS THE ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATION OF TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGIES

24 March 2014

Members of the Bulgarian Association for Trenchless Technologies demonstrated trenchless methods for construction and rehabilitation of pipelines during the two-day Technical seminars with demonstrations of underground infrastructure technologies held from 11th to 19th March in Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Burgas and Varna. The initiative was realized by Underground Infrastructure Industrial Cluster (UIIC), whose member and one of the founders is BATT. The events are part of the implementation of the strategy of UIIC for raising the awareness of the specialists from the infrastructure construction sector of the modern technologies for improvement of the underground infrastructure, in compliance with the European and international quality and environmental protection standards.

Participants in and guests to the events were representatives of the state and local authorities, like the regional governor of Varna, Mr. Ivan Velikov, the deputy regional governor of Stara Zagora, Dr. Tundjai Yoztiurk, the mayor of South Region in Plovdiv, Mr. Valentin Vasilev, managers of water companies, technical managers from municipalities and water supply and sewerage companies, designers and constructors from the field of infrastructure construction.

The modern underground infrastructure technologies like Horizontal Directional Drilling, Microtunnelling, Casing Pipe Ramming Using a Pneumatic Rammer, Cured-in-place Pipe and Spirally Wound in Place Pipe, etc. roused great interest among the guests to the event.

The demonstrations have proved that Bulgarian companies like Stroitelna Mehanizatsia AD, Raicommerce Construction EAD and Hobas - Bulgaria, members of BATT, have mastered and applied the most modern international tendencies in the infrastructure construction and rehabilitation. Furthermore, companies like Stroitelna Mehanizatsia AD, Phoenix BT and Sorokov Instruments EOOD have the necessary expertise and experience to realize engineering improvements to the modern methods, and machines and tools for them.

This important event was realized thanks to project "Promotion of the development of modern technologies for construction and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure" with the financial support of Operational Programme “Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy” 2007-2013, co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
